How to Choose Between QUIK and AXLE?

The QUIK series features a patented twist-lock mechanism, offering ultra-fast wheel changes with simple single-hand operation. It’s ideal for riders who prioritize convenience and quick installation/removal.

AXLE focuses on modular compatibility with various thread pitches and lengths, making it a versatile solution for Road, MTB, Trainer, and Trailer applications.

If you’re unsure about your bike’s thread pitch or axle length, we recommend the AXLE series!

How to choose the correct RapiLock AXLE specification?

Please consider the following three key points when selecting an AXLE:

  1. Usage Scenario : Road / MTB / Trainer / Trailer
  2. Front or Rear Wheel : Ensure the selected length matches the wheel position
  3. Axle Length and Diameter : Measure the dropout width and axle diameter (usually Ø12mm)

Based on your measurements and usage, select the appropriate AXLE model and refer to RapiLock’s Specification Chart for confirmation.
How to choose the correct RapiLock QUIK specification?

Choosing a QUIK axle is simple. You only need to confirm two key factors:

  1. Axle Length Range : Check your bike’s dropout width and select the QUIK model that covers that length.
QUIK axles support adjustable micro-length tuning (±6mm), making fitment easier. Refer to the Specification Chart or consult our Measurement Guide for details.
  2. Thread Pitch: Identify your bike’s thread specification (P1.0 / P1.5 / P1.75).

Does RapiLock support UDH-equipped frames?

Yes, RapiLock axles are compatible with frames that use UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) standards.

How to Measure Bike Axle Correctly?

Refer to the RapiLock Axle 5-Step Measurement Guide [Official Video]

STEP 1. Determine the geometry of the axle (diameter, end shape, etc.)
STEP 2. Check the thread pitch (P1.0 / P1.5 / P1.75)
STEP 3. Measure the total axle length, including thread length
STEP 4. Choose the corresponding colors from the spec chart
STEP 5. Assemble each part together with an M6 screw
STEP 6. Finally, compare with the original axle to ensure the length and thread pitch match

How to Install RapiLock AXLE?

STEP 1. Measure your bike’s axle length and thread pitch using the AXLE Measurement Guide.
STEP 2. Install the corresponding thread insert and axle length based on your measurements.
STEP 3. Ensure the RapiLock AXLE matches your bike’s original axle length and thread pitch.
STEP 4. Insert the axle through the bike frame and wheel hub.
STEP 5. Tighten the axle securely until it is fully locked.
STEP 6. After installation, spin the wheel to check for any noise or wobble.
(If using a trailer or trainer, double-check that the hitch or clamp is securely fastened.)

Are there any specific installation notes for Road/MTB, Trainer, and Trailer Axles?
  • Road/MTB: Ensure the quick-release wrench is fully tucked in to avoid interference.
  • Trainer: Make sure the axle is firmly secured within the trainer’s clamp.
  • Trailer: Verify hitch alignment and perform a firm locking check after installation.
How to choose the correct thread insert for AXLE series?

Refer to the RapiLock Measurement Guide to select the appropriate thread pitch (P1.0 / P1.5 / P1.75) that matches your bike’s frame specifications.

How to Measure Bike QUIK Axle Correctly?

Selecting a QUIK axle is simple — just confirm two key factors: Axle Length Range and Knob Thread Pitch.

STEP 1. Measure the Thread Section Length (≦15mm)
Place the original axle upright on a flat surface and check if the threaded section is under 15mm. Confirm it’s an M12 thread (P1.0 / P1.5 / P1.75).
STEP 2. Measure the Total Axle Length
Use a ruler or caliper to measure the total length of your original axle. Select a QUIK model that matches within ±1mm of this length.
STEP 3. Refer to the Specification Chart and Select the Correct QUIK Model
Based on your measurements, choose the QUIK model with the correct length range and thread pitch from the spec chart. QUIK axles allow ±6mm micro-length adjustment for flexible installation.

How to Install RapiLock QUIK Axle?

Refer to the RapiLock QUIK [Official Video]

STEP 1. Assemble the QUIK Knob onto the frameUse the QUIK wrench to tighten the knob with 6Nm of torque, ensuring it’s firmly fixed to the frame.
STEP 2. Insert the QUIK Axle through the frame and wheel hub
Slide the axle through the dropout, wheel hub, and out the other side of the frame.
STEP 3. Adjust and lock the quick-release lever
Push the quick-release lever to the CLOSE position. Use a hex wrench to fine-tune the locking tension, avoiding over-tightening or looseness.
STEP 4. Check wheel rotation
After installation, spin the wheel to ensure there’s no noise or wobble. Confirm everything is securely locked before riding.

Does the twist knob need any adjustment after installation?

Once locked, the twist knob does not require further adjustment. Just ensure it’s securely locked in place before each ride.

What should I do if the knob feels too tight or too loose?

Ensure the axle is aligned correctly through the frame and hub. If issues persist, check for debris in the twist mechanism and clean if necessary.
